The challenge
Halliburton needed to fill highly flammable, explosive products into drums and IBCs with as few people as possible in the hazardous area.
The solution
In production at the plant
Two identical SP2 lines side by side, independent but under one control system, so they behave exactly the same: one can fill drums while the other fills IBCs, or both the same container. A platform between them lets one operator work either line from the same spot. Each line fills by net weight in two speeds, coarse then fine, with an immersion nozzle. Two safety measures come before any product flows: a clamp removes static charge from the metal container, and the container is inerted with nitrogen. On the conveyors, a pneumatic tool opens drums and IBCs, a pneumatic station screws the caps back on, and a sealer fits a metal seal to every drum.
The result
Two explosion proof lines, one operator, filling to ±0.1% since 2020.
