The challenge
Croda needed to fill polyols into drums and IBCs in a hazardous area, and wanted to keep forklifts out of the production hall where operators work.
The solution
In production at the plant
One of the first SP3 lines, built in an explosion proof version. The line starts outside the building: forklifts drop the pallets there, and a conveyor carries each container into the hall. The SP3 decaps, fills by net weight and recaps every drum and every IBC one by one. An automatic stretch wrapper then wraps the load, and the pallets go back outside. Filling and wrapping are independent sections, so one can work while the other stops.
The result
Running since 2011, more than a decade in continuous service, with no forklift traffic inside the production hall.
