The challenge
A chemicals producer near Barcelona needed to fill flammable products into drums and IBCs by weight, safely and with automatic pallet handling.
The solution
AiCROV – SP2 – Automatic Drum and IBC Filling Machine
An SP2 integrated in an automatic conveyor line that feeds and removes the pallets.
The result
In continuous operation since 2016.
How the line works
The pallet of empty drums or IBCs is placed on the infeed conveyor. When the operator authorizes it from the panel, it advances to the filling station, which is a weighing conveyor. The operator positions the filling head over each container; on start, the machine tares and fills to the net weight. When the pallet is complete, it leaves on the outfeed conveyor and the next one comes in. The operator never drives a pallet truck and never walks into the filling area.
Why this configuration for flammable products
For flammable products the immersion filling assembly is normally used: the nozzle goes down to the bottom of the container and rises with the product, so there is no free fall and no splashing. Every pallet movement is authorized from the panel, so nothing moves while someone is at the filling point. The SP2 is also available in an explosion proof version and with inert gas filling.
