The challenge
A German manufacturer of flammable chemicals needed to fill drums and IBCs on pallets by weight, safely, with containers fed and removed automatically.
The solution
AiCROV – SP2 – Automatic Drum and IBC Filling Machine
An SP2 integrated in an automatic conveyor line that brings full pallets of empty containers to the filler and takes them away once filled.
The result
Weight filling of flammable chemicals on a conveyor line, with the operator kept away from moving pallets.
How the line works
Pallets of empty drums or IBCs arrive on the infeed conveyor and advance to the filling station only when the operator authorizes it. The filling station is a weighing conveyor: the operator positions the nozzle over each container, and the machine tares and fills to the net weight. Full pallets leave on the outfeed conveyor without a pallet truck. Conveyors and filler are controlled from the same cabinet, so there is one control system and one supplier.
Why this configuration for flammable chemicals
With flammable products, the less the operator handles pallets near the filling point, the safer the line. On the SP2, pallet handling is done by the conveyors and filling by weight, with the immersion assembly normally used for flammable products: the nozzle fills from the bottom and rises with the level. An explosion proof version and inert gas filling are available on the SP2.
