The challenge
PeroxyChem needed to fill peracetic acid, an aggressive and oxidizing product, into 20-litre jerrycans already on the pallet, safely for the operator.

An SP1 that fills the jerrycans on the pallet one after another, without unloading it, with an over-bunghole nozzle and a Mettler Toledo weighing system.
The result
Jerrycans filled on the pallet without the operator handling the product, in production since 2014.
How the SP1 fills on the pallet
The pallet of empty jerrycans is placed on the SP1’s weighing platform with a pallet truck. The operator moves the filling head over the first jerrycan; when the release button is let go, the head locks in place. On start, the machine tares and fills to the net weight, then the operator moves on to the next jerrycan. The pallet is never unloaded, and the SP1 needs no conveyors and no plant modification.
Handling an oxidizing product
Peracetic acid is aggressive and oxidizing, so the less the operator touches it, the better. Filling on the pallet removes the manual handling of each jerrycan before and after filling, and the materials in contact with the product are chosen for it. The same filling technology is used today on our Robot Filler lines for peracetic acid.
