The challenge
A US food producer wanted a single machine for every container in the plant, from 10-litre jerrycans to IBCs, with food-contact materials and the right accuracy for each size.
The solution
SP1 Gravimetric Filling Machine — Dual Scale, Drums to Jerrycans | Food, USA
An SP1 with two scales. The pallet scale handles drums and IBCs, where around ±250 g is normal; next to it, a 100 kg scale for small containers brings jerrycans down to about ±15 g. The operator swings the arm from one scale to the other and changes between two immersion nozzles, Ø42 mm for drums and IBCs and Ø30 mm for jerrycans. A free-roller conveyor at the small scale lets jerrycans run in series: while one fills, the operator caps and palletizes the previous ones with a zero-gravity palletizing aid. All product-contact materials are FDA approved.
The result
One machine covers almost every container in the plant, with the right accuracy for each.
