The challenge
Syngenta wanted one machine for very different containers, from 25-litre jerrycans to 1,000-litre IBCs, and some of its products are flammable.
The solution
SP1 Gravimetric Filling Machine — Dual Scale, Explosion Proof | Syngenta, Colombia | AiCROV
Three SP1 units: two in an explosion proof version for the flammable products, one standard. Each SP1 works with two scales. The pallet scale takes drums and IBCs, where a tolerance of around ±250 g is fine. For 25-litre jerrycans that would be far too coarse, so a second, smaller scale sits next to the machine and brings the tolerance down to about ±15 g. The operator swings the arm to whichever scale matches the container. Filling is by immersion: the nozzle reaches the bottom and rises with the product, so no air is trapped and foam stays low.
The result
One machine type covers every container in the plant, with the right accuracy for each, running since 2021.
