The challenge
A food producer needed to fill butter oil into IBCs of three sizes, with food-grade hygiene and without a fixed installation.
The solution
Line in production
An LSC with a weighing platform that takes 700, 800 and 1,000-litre IBCs without adjustment. A 2.5-inch immersion nozzle goes down into the container and rises with the product. The operator opens the IBC, picks the recipe on the screen and presses start; the machine fills to weight and the operator closes the IBC. Built with clean welds and surfaces, a nozzle-cleaning accessory and a hose support.
The result
Around 18 IBCs an hour with one operator, on a machine that was producing from the day it arrived.
Why the LSC needs no alignment
IBCs keep essentially the same width and height across formats. Once the pallet is on the LSC’s weighing platform, the bunghole is already under the nozzle: there is nothing to align and nothing to teach. That is why one platform takes the 700, 800 and 1,000-litre IBCs of this customer without adjustment. The platform is U-shaped, so an ordinary pallet truck brings the IBC in and takes it out.
Food-grade details
For a food product the machine has to be easy to keep clean. This LSC has clean welds and surfaces, a nozzle-cleaning accessory and a support for the product hose, so the hose does not lie on the floor between batches. Filling recipes are stored per product and container, so changing format is a selection on the panel.
