The challenge
IFF–Danisco’s food-ingredient plant in Iowa needed to fill IBCs and drums at high output, with no operator handling of the product, and to clean the dosing nozzles between products without dismantling them.
The solution
Automatic IBC & Drum Filling Line — Dual Robot Filler | AiCROV
Workshop test, with the cleaning cycle
Two Robot Fillers work side by side, each filling its own pallet. Operators only load pallets at the infeed; the line conveys them, machine vision locates every container, and each robot uncaps, fills and recaps with tools for both drums and IBCs. The nozzles are immersion type: they go down to the bottom of the container, so filling is quiet and accurate.
Cleaning is built in. On request, the robot lowers the nozzle into a cleaning sheath; with the cell safeties active, the operator clamps sheath and nozzle together to form a sealed circuit. Cleaning fluid then runs through the same product line, first rinsing the inside of the nozzle and then rising to wash the outside. Valve timings are set on screen, and a recirculation pump can circulate the fluid through tank, piping, hose and nozzle. More on how AiCROV nozzles are cleaned.
The result
One line fills 65 drums and 38 IBCs an hour, two pallets at a time, and cleans its own nozzles without dismantling anything.
