Filling machines for fragrances and essences
Fragrance compounds, flavours and essential oils are among the most expensive liquids that go into a drum. A gram overfilled is money lost, and a trace of the previous product can ruin a batch worth more than the machine that filled it.
We build filling lines for the companies that produce those compounds and ship them in bulk — canisters, aluminium bottles, drums and IBCs (totes) — not for perfume bottling. Our customers include IFF, Eurofragance and Fragrance Science.

Cross-contamination is the problem to solve first
Nobody in this industry fills a single product. A line that runs a citrus compound in the morning and a floral one in the afternoon has to leave nothing behind, and it has to do it quickly, because every hour spent cleaning is an hour not filling.
Our answer is in the design of the filling unit, not in a cleaning procedure written afterwards:
- No dead spots. The nozzle is designed so that the product does not get trapped anywhere along its path: what goes in, comes out. There are no corners where a compound can sit and reappear in the next batch.
- Flushing. The line is drained and purged between references, recovering the product left in the circuit instead of losing it.
- CIP cleaning. Where the process requires it, the nozzle is cleaned in place and returns to service without disassembly.
- Interchangeable nozzle, without tools. For products that cannot share a path at all, the nozzle is swapped in minutes. Some customers keep a dedicated nozzle for their most sensitive references.
The machine also stores a recipe per product, so a change of reference is a selection on the panel, with its own filling parameters, and not a readjustment of the line.
Accuracy, because of what each gram is worth
Filling by weight, with the scale integrated in the control system, on every single container. AiCROVFill® fills in two speeds — coarse flow for most of the dose, fine flow to finish on target — checks the settled weight and tops up if it has fallen short.
With a compound worth several hundred euros a kilo, the difference between filling to target and filling “a little over, just in case” is measured in thousands of euros a year. That is usually the first calculation our customers make.
Scale resolution goes down to ±5 g on small containers and ±250 g on IBCs, depending on the machine and the format.
A machine that fits a clean plant
Fragrance and flavour plants do not look like a lubricant blending site. They are clean, bright, quiet, and often visited by the customer’s own customers. The machine has to belong there.
That means filling without splashing, without dripping between containers, and without marking the packaging. The anti-drip system recovers the product after each fill instead of leaving it on the container or on the floor. The immersion filling mode fills below the surface, so volatile compounds do not aerate and lose their top notes on the way in.
It is a detail that does not appear in any specification sheet, and it is one of the first things our customers mention.
Alcohol bases and flammable compounds
Many fragrance bases are alcoholic, and that puts the filling area inside a classified zone. Every AiCROV machine is available in an explosion proof version under ATEX, IECEx or the scheme applicable in the country of installation, covering the whole assembly: machine, conveyors, tool holder and tools.
For these products we usually recommend immersion filling — the nozzle fills below the product surface, avoiding splashing and static build-up — together with electrostatic grounding control and, where the product requires it, nitrogen inerting before, during and after filling.
Containers
From one litre to 1,500. Our customers in this sector fill:
- Canisters and jerrycans, from 1 to 30 litres
- Aluminium bottles of 1, 1.5, 2 and 4 litres
- Drums, steel and plastic
- IBCs
A single line can handle several of these formats: what changes is the recipe and, where needed, the nozzle.
Which machine fits your line
Any AiCROV machine can fill these products. What decides which one you need is not what you fill — it is how many containers per hour you have to produce, in what format, and how much of the operation you want automated. Every container format, from a one-litre canister to a 1,500-litre IBC, has machines across the whole range, from semi-automatic to fully automatic.
What the product decides is everything inside the filling unit: whether it is filled by immersion or under the bunghole, the materials in contact with it, and how the nozzle itself is driven — push or pull, two-stage coarse and fine opening or proportional, and whether the process needs flow control and continuous pressure.
That is why our first step is a conversation and not a quotation. Tell us your output, your containers and your product, and the configuration follows.
LSG — semi-automatic weigh filling machine for jerrycans and small containers
Semi-automatic weigh filling machine for jerrycans and small containers. No installation: connect power, air and product, and it is ready to fill.
LSB — semi-automatic weigh filling machine for drums
Semi-automatic drum filling machine for 30 to 250 litres: it weighs every drum as it fills, comes preconfigured and is simple to run.
LSC — semi-automatic weigh filling machine for IBCs
For plants that only fill IBCs (totes): quick to set up and configure, and available in an explosion proof version.
SP1 — semi-automatic weigh filling machine for containers on a pallet
Semi-automatic weigh filling of jerrycans, drums and IBCs on a pallet: the operator positions the nozzle and the machine fills to the net weight.
SP2 — semi-automatic filling line for containers on a pallet, with conveyors
Semi-automatic filling of drums and IBCs on a pallet, from 20 to 1,500 litres, by weight, on a preconfigured machine.
SP25 — weigh filling machine with motorised nozzle positioning
This is the machine in the range where the operator stops moving the head by hand. Travel in X, in…
SP3 — automatic filling machine for drums and IBCs on a pallet
With the Robot Filler, this is the most automated machine we build. The operator does not intervene during the cycle…
Robot Filler — fully automatic robotic filling machine for drums and IBCs
Robotic filling of jerrycans, drums and IBCs on a pallet: 3D vision finds each container, then the robot uncaps, fills, caps and seals.
EL2-B — in-line automatic drum filling machine
Automatic in-line filling of steel and plastic drums from 60 to 250 litres, by weight, with uncapping, capping and sealing stations.
EL2-E — in-line automatic filling machine for jerrycans and small containers
Automatic in-line weigh filling machine for liquid and viscous products in metal or plastic canisters, pails and jerrycans with a rectangular base.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you supply perfume bottling lines?
No. We fill in bulk formats — canisters, aluminium bottles, drums and IBCs, from one litre to 1,500 — which is what fragrance and flavour producers ship to their customers. For small retail bottles there are specialized bottling manufacturers.
How do you avoid one compound contaminating the next?
Three ways, combined as the process requires: a filling unit with no dead spots where product can sit, flushing and CIP cleaning between references, and an interchangeable nozzle that can be swapped in minutes or dedicated to a sensitive product.
Can the machine fill alcohol-based compounds?
Yes, in the explosion proof version under ATEX, IECEx or the local scheme, with immersion filling, electrostatic grounding control and nitrogen inerting as options.
How accurate is the filling?
Filling is by weight on every container, with two-speed filling and a final top-up. Resolution goes down to ±5 g on small containers, depending on machine and format.
Can one line fill one-litre bottles and IBCs?
Yes. The SP1, SP2 and SP25 fill small containers and IBCs on the pallet (the SP1 and SP2 from 0.2 L with an additional scale), and the recipe holds the parameters of each format. The SP3 and the Robot Filler start at 20 litres.
How do you prevent losses from evaporation?
Immersion filling fills below the product surface, which reduces aeration and the loss of volatile top notes. Closed cabins and gas hoods are available where the product requires them.
